Welcome to Scarecrow Shenanigans

A brand-new family trail bringing a little bit of storybook magic to Nuneaton Town Centre!

From 19th - 30th September, 15 storybook-inspired scarecrows will be hiding at participating town-centre businesses, each representing a much-loved children’s book character.

Families and visitors can follow the trail, discover the scarecrows, guess the characters, take selfies with their favourites and vote for the People’s Choice Award.

But Scarecrow Shenanigans is about more than just the scarecrows. We’ve worked with community groups, charities, clubs, creative organisations and businesses, all of whom have brought their own ideas, creativity and imagination to the event.

Every scarecrow has a story behind it, and we’d like to introduce you to the wonderful people who helped bring them to life.

So, grab your trail map, explore Nuneaton Town Centre and see how many storybook characters you can find!

🌾 Find them. 📚 Guess them. 📸 Snap them. 🏆 Vote for your favourite!

Scarecrow Shenanigans is brought to you by Nuneaton BID, Saints and in conjunction with the National Year of Reading 2026.

Meet the Creators

Scarecrow Shenanigans wouldn’t be possible without the wonderful community groups, charities, clubs and creative organisations who have helped bring our storybook characters to life.

We’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has contributed a scarecrow and helped fill Nuneaton Town Centre with creativity, imagination and a little bit of storybook magic!

Our creation was a real team effort; a huge thank you to Esmée, Evelyn, Ruby and Harper from Nuneaton Town U11S Football Team, along with Gracie, Charlie and Simran, who all helped bring our fairytale creation to life.
