Security Team Praised for Potentially Life-Saving Intervention at Nuneaton Station

A security team working in partnership with railway colleagues has been formally commended following a proactive intervention that may have prevented a serious incident at Nuneaton station.

On 7 February, the Mobile Operations Manager responsible for maintaining the safety of railway operations at Nuneaton became aware of an ambulance attending the station shortly after booking on for duty. Upon attending the scene, it was established that a vulnerable individual was receiving treatment from paramedics within the station office area.

During enquiries, two members of the local BID Security team advised that they had encountered the individual in the town centre behaving in a concerning manner. Recognising potential mental health issues and the risk of escalation, they took the decisive step to contact the ambulance service.

The Mobile Operations Manager, who is regularly exposed to serious and distressing incidents as part of their role, described the security officers’ actions as exemplary.

Their vigilance, professionalism, and confidence to act proactively almost certainly prevented the situation from escalating further and may well have saved a life.

The commendation highlights the vital importance of partnership working between security teams and railway staff, as well as the critical role proactive intervention plays in protecting vulnerable individuals and safeguarding the public.

The conduct of the officers reflects extremely well on their organisation and demonstrates the powerful impact of taking timely, responsible action.

Not all heroes wear capes.

Together, We’re Making a Great Big Difference

On 4th February, something special opens its doors in Nuneaton.

It’s called The Great Big Give - and it’s more than a shop.
It’s Nuneaton’s first Social Supermarket, created to support over 300+ local families with access to affordable, essential food when it’s needed most.

Behind every tin, every bag of pasta, every bottle of cleaning product, there’s a simple idea:
no one in our community should struggle alone.

That’s where you come in.

We’re asking our community to bring a donation — whatever you can spare.
Tins, pasta, rice, toiletries, cleaning products, pet food and everyday cupboard essentials all make a real difference.

Your donations can be dropped off at Margaret’s Community Hub,
or directly at The Social Supermarket, located in Abbeygate Shopping Centre.

A small act. A big impact.
This February, let’s come together and make The Great Big Give exactly what it’s meant to be.
