The Nuneaton Arts Emerging Artist Network is a group of 18–30-year-olds who meet fortnightly at The Abbey Theatre to co-produce events which provide platforms for creatives to share their work. They are also individual artists from across the creative disciplines themselves:

The group (Aaron Maynard-Corcoran, Alex Webster, Caitlin Jenkins, Olé Sanghera, Oliver Tizick, Rae Wright, Swellen D'Souza, and Violet Hills) have been meeting since September 2025. Their first project was for the annual Hope Festival at The Abbey Theatre in February.

Now, they invite you to join them for two exciting events in July:

Rough Cut

Sunday, July 12, 2026 - 5:00pm

Rough Cut is a film screening night at The Abbey Theatre. It will be an opportunity for filmmakers to showcase their short films, audiences to experience them, and all to network and learn more about the screen industry opportunities Nuneaton and the wider region.

Rhianna Morris @rhianna_georgia, award-winning-midlands Actor, Producer, Director, Scriptwriter & Creative Director of Zion Studios @zion_studios_ and CEO of Film Flicks Collective @filmflickscollective will share her work, journey and top tips.

Restoration works will take place at venue that holds almost 300 years of Nuneaton's history

Cllr Bhim Saru, who was the borough's first ever Gurkha Mayor, chose to use his year in office to help the Chilvers Coton Heritage Centre.

Part of the stonework on the building is crumbling and urgent works are needed at the centre, which preserves the town's history, dating back almost 300 years.

Signs for a new eatery have emerged at a former well-known Nuneaton town centre shop.

The corner frontage of what was Nuneaton Toolbox now has a new black and white facia with a sign that reads 'Alanya Restaurant'.

Last year locals mourned the loss of the much-loved 'treasure trove' Tool Box shop in Coventry Street after it closed suddenly.

At Nuneaton BID we have been lucky enough to work with Ann on 2 other art projects in the local community. This window display is on more of a personal note for her and we are happy to support the continuation of her hard work in to raising awareness of the menopause.

Menopause Makes

An Arts Council England-funded community art project by Ann Middleton

Menopause Makes is a creative project bringing together women experiencing perimenopause, menopause and post-menopause to create a giant collaborative cardigan sculpture.

Through textiles, craft, storytelling, photography and creative workshops, participants will contribute pieces that reflect their experiences, resilience, humour and strength.

The giant jumper currently on display is part of Ann Middleton's ongoing exploration of menopause through large-scale textile sculpture. Over the coming months, women from across Coventry and Warwickshire will be invited to contribute knitted, crocheted, woven, stitched and textile-based pieces that will become part of an immersive artwork celebrating women's voices and shared experiences.

Whether you craft regularly or have never picked up a needle, everyone is welcome to take part.

Families enjoyed an action-packed day in Nuneaton town centre as Uniformed Services Day returned for the school holidays. Children had the chance to meet local heroes from the Police, Fire Service, Ambulance teams, Army, and NHS, while exploring emergency vehicles, interactive displays, and live demonstrations. The event brought plenty of excitement, smiles, and community spirit to Harefield Road.

This month we’re delighted to share the visual minutes from colLABorate Nuneaton and Bedworth — a training and development programme for artists and cultural leaders living and working in the borough, produced by Lou Lomas and Kirsten Tranter, held across November and December 2025.

Over four inspiring sessions, artists came together to explore ideas, share experiences and develop their practice around four key themes:

1. Collaboration
2. Arts Funding
3. Access, Inclusion and Care
4. Artist’s Choice: Project Planning

These beautiful artworks produced by local artists Anthony Greentree, Alisha Miller and Nathan Parker capture the energy, conversations and creative thinking that took place throughout the programme, preserving them as visual minutes and a celebration of the ideas shared by everyone involved.

We’re especially pleased that the programme has already helped support new opportunities, with artists and cultural leaders from the group successfully securing funding to deliver a cultural celebration in Nuneaton Market Place, marking the 800th anniversary of the Market Charter.

A new 24/7 gym is set to open its doors in Nuneaton town centre soon. Last year The Gym Group announced its plans for 24 hour gym at the former Carpetright store off Newtown Road.

Planning permission was given the go-ahead at the end of August and now the new facility looks set to take a step closet to opening.

A new application has been submitted to Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council which asks for permission for two internally illuminated PVC signs, one non-illuminated vinyl sign and the erection of two ACM/Digital print signs.

I am Kate Brush and I am from Nuneaton. I picked up a paint brush during lockdown and watched tutorials on how to paint. I then started to sell my art at markets and events. I’ve been doing that for almost 4 years now and I absolutely love it.  

My favourite subject to paint is British wildlife, seascapes and mountain ranges.  

I create art using acrylics, watercolours and pencil crayons.  

Art has helped me immensely in so many ways. My life has changed for so many amazing reasons.  I’m so glad I decided to pick up that paint brush 6 years ago.

This March, our Abbey Street window is bursting with creativity thanks to Chaz Friend, the talented willow artist behind Wayside Willow. Chaz brings the ancient craft of willow weaving into the 21st century, creating stunning sculptures, bespoke pieces, and interactive workshops that engage and inspire.

From intricate willow baskets to large-scale sculptures, Chaz’s work combines traditional techniques with imaginative designs, highlighting both skill and creativity. His pieces are not only beautiful but also celebrate the natural world, making each creation a unique fusion of art and craft.

Visitors to Abbey Street will be able to enjoy Chaz’s artistry up close, discovering the delicate detail and creativity that goes into every piece. This showcase is a fantastic opportunity to connect with a local artist whose work enriches our community and sparks curiosity in everyone who passes by.

Nuneaton police have put an action plan in place to tackle shoplifting at a Greggs store in Nuneaton town centre. There have been well known issues in stores across the country where thieves have brazenly helped themselves to armfulls of goods and walked out.

There was a high profile incident in neighbouring Coventry last year and Nuneaton is not immune to this. Police say that its Queens Road-based shop has been targeted by shoplifters.

Nuneaton and Bedworth Safer Neighbourhood Team Inspector Ryan Walker explained: "We are working with Greggs in the town, where we do see shoplifting."
